We had a nice group of five paddlers with one or two that played hooky to paddle the Upper Green.  Rough weather had been forecast with heavy thunder storms rolling thru while we would be on the river, so I was a little nervous.  Once at the put in we noticed no other cars were there so we had the river to ourselves. We played a little on our way down.  The water is warm up nice this season and the air temperature was a little hot for a dry suit.   So once we hit the nice rolling pool, a few decided to hit a roll or two to cool off.

We all survived Bayless, with Jack Conrad having a very nice roll.  On to Wanda’s Hole, Olivia Summerfield and Greta Durbin decided to run the far left line while Marlow Durbin, Jack and I decide to run the far right line.   Once down to Pinball (Magic Carpet ride), we discussed the line and one by one we ran it.   When one has a clean run, it is like a ride on a Magic Carpet hence the name Magic Carpet Ride.  Friday it was Pinball as we watched one boater flip after the first drop and pinball off the rock on the second drop.

We paddle out with Marlow and me stopping for a few nice surfs on the last wave to end our day.

Fortunately, we enjoyed the day on the river, lovely take out hike and loaded boats without any rain or thunder storms.
