With the Eno dropping rapidly, I posted a trip to Facebook last night. By today I had six people (evolving to seven). Meeting up at West Point, we had one person running late. Late. With the schduled run already tight, what I should have done was abbreviate the trip by cutting off one of the (Pleasant Green/Cole Mill/Guess/Roxboro) sections to turn it into a shorter run.

Having published weeks in advance a trip on the Cape Fear, as the date arrived I was about ready to cancel. On the 15th it was running around 4.5', but by the 18th it was running at just barely over 2' which, while higher than the 1.6" I'll never run again, isn't off by much. I'd received a few inquiries, but said that if it was below 2' I'd cancel. But still, I felt committed.

The Eno River usually reaches a good level — not too scrapey, but not washed out — in the middle of the night or during especially cold, rainy weather. But we were fortunate to find the river at such a level on a beautiful sunny day with temperature in the low 50's.

November 11, 2009. As the remnants of tropical storm Ida worked their way across the state, it was clear that something was going to be flowing in the Triangle. However, there did seem to be a whole lot of rain coming down pretty consistently since yesterday afternoon, and I had some concern about too much of a good thing. So, my approach was to be pretty conservative.
