Seventeen paddlers gathered on October 29th to paddle the Hanging Rock to Moratock Park section of the Dan River.  The water level was very low so we had to scoot through a few spots but for me at least, it was just nice to be out on the water with a bunch of good folks.  In years past, the ‘color’ part of the paddle was missing or just not that memorable.  This year was different.  We hit it just right!  The drive to Danbury featured some spectacular Fall foliage and there was plenty to admire all along the paddle as well.  Afterwards we settled under the pavilion and enjoyed burgers and dogs hot off the grill and a variety of other goodies.  Mostly we enjoyed chatting and sharing stories with each other until it was time to head home.  A teaser for next year’s Fall Colors Paddle… we’re going to try to find a way to accommodate the post paddle social if we do the Snow Creek to Hemlock section.

Big thanks to everyone who helped, cooked, shuttled, sweeped, stomped and planned this event!
