We had 16 boaters this morning on the Middle Haw.  The level was 3000 cfs.  The day started out a little gray, but the temps were very comfortable.  Alan provided a great van for shuttling!  We didn’t have any swims.  Eddies were caught and ferries were made and even a few surfs were caught all the way down the river.  We practiced attainments and ferries at “attainment rock (my term-I don’t know the official term), which is just down from Thunder Falls.  Everyone showed off their skills easing through S turn.  Molly was the star of the day.  A Junior at NCSU and not as experienced with paddling, Molly did a great job catching eddies and even in an “oh no” moment at S-turn, calmed herself down quickly, reoriented the boat correctly and went right on through.  Wayne did a little teaching at the take out.  All in all a great day!
