We had planned to kayak the Upper Green and canoe the Lower Green on Sunday Jan 17, but on Saturday it didn’t look like there was going to be a release so we did a back up plan of French Broad section 6. I had not done this section in years and the last time I did it was in a kayak a low water.  In a canoe at medium flows this trip is a blast.  Yes, there is one portage around a dam and you do go by a sewage treatment plan but regardless that is a nice section of class I-III WW. The level was about 2200 cfs and it was partly sunny and cold.  It was a drysuit mandatory kind of day and you hope you don’t swim.  We had 5 paddlers but with the change of venue and other things, everyone dropped out except for me and my wife in our Esquif Canyon canoe.  Theresa got a little nervous with a couple of the ledges sections drops but she did fine and we cruised through there. With only us on the trip we had to self shuttle and fortunately my wife knows how to occupy her time while she was waiting for me to ride back to the van. I’ll definitely be going back and doing section 6 again in the canoe
