A late summer lap was sent in terrific style yesterday, September 8, by several club members. A few choice photos are above (Left to right: group picture; Ted Jean taking an ice bath at lesser wesser falls; Brian Hamilton attaining to surf) but our 40+ photos/videos are on the club facebook page.

Some bombed, some played, no one swam (though we were able to assist swimmers from other groups at lesser wesser).

Folks in our group came, as usual, from all walks and parts of life.

I wanted to give a special shout out to Ted Jean who has returned to the CCC after paddling with us over 20 years ago. Now 75, we ran into each other flatwater paddling at Jordan lake, got to talking, and on a whim he interrupted a _17_ year whitewater hiatus to come join us yesterday – driving across the state to paddle with total strangers. Every person in the group couldn’t believe he’d been out of a whitewater boat for 17 years. It was inspiring seeing him not only reconnect with the river, but (more than once) recall with better accuracy than some of us whipper snappers when and where certain rapids and features were coming around which bend.

If this or the photos whetted anyone’s appetite for a good time on the nantahala: come race with us Oct 4. Link to the GCA (Georgia Canoe Association) event here: https://noc.com/events/wildwater-championships-downriver-race/
