The 13th edition of Families Paddle Too took place over Memorial Day Weekend at Smoky Mountain Meadows. The biggest news to come out of the event is that Michele Belknp has agreed to coordinate going forward!
Despite it being the unofficial start of summer, the weather was more early spring. Nonetheless, a group of diehard families showed up. Thanks to Ryan for filling in as meeting leader on Saturday morning.
Some highlights from the weekend:
The Belknaps getting out on the water with their 4 year old grandson.
A group of 15 boats on the Nantahala Saturday afternoon including Bill & Caroline getting back on the river after a hiatus for a rocket ride in the Dynamic Duo.
A group of 13 boats on the Ocoee including 2 intrepid cataraft crews and a personal first descent for one of the teenagers. Another group had a trip full of wildlife sightings on the Tuck Gorge.
And a finale on Monday for a short trip on the Nantahala starting at Ferebee. Brenda was introduced to the “magical portal” of the race line at the falls and styled it.
