With rain in the forecast, Linda and I headed up to the Ocoee. We arrived at Thunder Rock before the storm, managing to get the tent up and be warned by the camp host of the incoming storm. We settled into dinner at the Waterfront restaurant in Copper Hill before the storm broke (which it did with a vengeance!). Returning to camp late, rain still fell but things were (mostly) dry, and we headed to bed. John McDonald pulled into camp shortly thereafter. Having driving through the storm he got to set up in the rain.

Saturday morning Scott and I made an early run of the Ocoee for his uneventful second-ever run. We looped back around to join up with John, Mort, Jeff, Wayne, and Michael (for his first trip on the Middle). There were a couple of rolls in there and a (brief) swim; just another (rainy) day on the Ocoee. The rain stopped long enough for us to pack up at the end of the run.

Linda, Scott, and I headed out to dinner. State Line Barbecue had sold out for the day, so we returned to the Waterfront. Again to have a storm crash down upon us while we there. Rain continued to sheet down the rest of the evening. Linda and I wandered about a bit looking for dry spot before settling in at Hardees for drinks and a game of Innovation.

Sunday morning John headed out to meet up with Mort, Wayne, and Jeff to make a run of Raven Fork (which went well but you’ll have to wait for their trip report for the details of this rarely-run river).

Sunday morning the rain had stopped, and Scott and I made an early run of the Middle before we all headed home.

The rock star of the weekend was Linda, who had her weekend hiking and biking plans foiled by the rain, instead spending much of the weekend shuttling us all around, making the trip far easier for the rest of us.
