Remembering Paul Ferguson

Friends of Paul Ferguson
On August 12, Paul Ferguson, one of the Carolina Canoe Club’s most beloved members, died at the age of 83. He was one of two people to serve four years as President of the Club as well as our first Safety Chair. Paul was well known for his indispensable guidebooks, Paddling Eastern North Carolina and Canoe Kayak South Carolina. He combined a stately air with a wry sense of humor and a compassion for those around him. Many people considered him a close friend.
On Wednesday, September 23rd, friends of Paul will come together for a Remembrance. Club members are invited. The event will be held in the Reeves Auditorium at the North Carolina Botanical Gardens in Chapel Hill. We’ll start promptly at 11am, as Paul would expect. A light lunch will be available afterwards.
Come join us for tears and joy, a chance to remember a graceful paddler and a great person.
*Parking is limited and must be shared with garden visitors. Please car pool if possible.*
