Updates for Week of Rivers!

Week of Rivers is coming — June 26-July 5.

If you’re new to Week of Rivers (or even if you’re not) the Week of Rivers web page has a lot of useful information. You can review the 2026 WOR Page with details specific to 2026 (including current clinics).

The top question I get every year is, “How can I get on a trip at WOR”? Generally, the clinics have registration in advance – check the schedule. The daily trips do not. They’re not, generally, even arranged in advance.

Every morning, individuals stand up and _volunteer_ to coordinate a trip to a place they want to go that they think will have water.  That’s generally 100% ad hoc. After those announcements, people will gather about signs for individual rivers and talk to those volunteer coordinators.  Those trips often fill up fast – don’t dawdle. Please also respect the decisions of those trip coordinators for trip size and manageability. Also keep in mind at least one “backup” trip in case the one you’re interested in doesn’t have availability. If you don’t know the rivers well, a read of the target rivers in advance is a good idea.

Once you’re all set, please make sure to show up for the trip on time, with your car gassed up. If you’re riding with someone else, make sure to bring along some cash to help pay for gas. Trip coordinators are volunteers – try to make their day as hassle free as possible!!

The best way to get a trip you want is to volunteer to coordinate a trip. If you’re just going on a trip with friends, take a moment to volunteer to take a few more along with you, and make new friends! The CCC offers incentives to those who coordinate paddling trips to show encouragement and support.
