Neuse River Park Update
Dear Neuse River Park Supporters,
We’re excited to share that the City has officially executed a contract with our consultant team to lead the next phases of the Neuse River Park project-from schematic design through construction administration. Our prime consultant is Benesch, and you’ll also recognize SWCA and Calibre, who are continuing on as subconsultants after supporting the master planning phase.
With this contract in place, we’re moving forward into schematic design-the phase where we begin turning the big-picture ideas from the master plan into a more detailed layout for the park. To kick things off, the consultant team will be conducting an in-depth site survey. This fieldwork will help us better understand the existing conditions of the site-mapping features such as tree cover, stream crossings, and topography-so we can make informed and thoughtful design decisions.
So, if you see surveyors in the woods, know they’re helping us collect this essential data to guide the next steps of the design process!
Later this year, we’ll reconvene the Community Advisory Group and host a round of public engagement, which will include an open house and an online survey to gather community input on the draft schematic design. We’ll be reaching out again soon with more information on how to get involved. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to NeuseRiverPark@publicinput.com at your convenience.
Thank you for being part of this journey-we look forward to sharing more as the design progresses!
