WOR Citizen Slalom Friendly
CCC Week of Rivers Citizen Slalom Friendly
Come test your skills and stamina at our annual Citizen Slalom Friendly. See what all the hype is about. Two Heats, Timed runs, judged by partners. We will have a timer and official scorekeepers.
Timed Run, in the correct order, in the correct direction, with no touches. Best of 2 timed runs counts. You don’t have to do 2 runs.
Prizes: Bragging rights and recognition at the Thursday morning meeting and possible recruiting by the US Olympic team.
Check in at 4:45 pm at the table down at the end of the slalom course to get your racing bib. You will need to arrive early to find parking and get to the river.
We plan to stop at 6 pm because that is when the water will begin to rise from the Upper Nantahala release. we should be done by then.
Last year the scores ranged from 94 to 216. Lowest number wins. Scores in the 90s to low 100s is your target. It’s ok if you don’t get that. You’re doing something cool on a course where past, present and future Olympians train.
All participants in any Carolina Canoe Club (CCC) trip do so as common adventurers. The CCC or its individual members may coordinate paddling trips but no one is considered leader of a trip. As common adventurers, all participants take the responsibility for making their own decisions including, but not limited to, whether it is safe for them to participate on any particular water body, what equipment they need and use, the routes they may choose to paddle, whether their skill levels and abilities are adequate for the activity or whether climate and water conditions are appropriate for their participation. Participants are exclusively responsible for their own safety.
Individual coordinators for all CCC activities set requirements per their sole discretion. The CCC does not necessarily endorse or approve requirements set by coordinators.
