Event Type

One of the fun traditions of week of rivers is the Annual Used Gear Swap and Sale. While we are primarily interested in Boats and Paddles, gently used paddling, hiking, camping and biking gear is acceptable.  There will be a designated area near the pavilion and a table to lay your gear out. A hanging rack will also be available under the pavilion for clothing. (Bring your own hanger).

Label sale items with your name, phone number, email, campsite and asking price.  (We recommend duct tape and a permanent marker or an index card  inside a Ziploc bag taped to the item.)  Items will get wet with the morning dew  even if it does not rain.

All gear must be collected by 11 pm, Saturday July 4.

Pro Tip – If you’re selling a boat and it rains, take the time to dump the water out each morning. Swamped boats don’t sell well.

Fine print: The seller is responsible for their items — Carolina Canoe Club and Smoky Mountain Meadows Campground are not. While some sellers may leave their items out all day long while they paddle, CCC  and SMM are not responsible for your unattended sale items at the Used Gear Swap and Sale. CCC and SMM do not oversee the safety of items nor do CCC or SMM collect funds on the seller’s behalf. If you do not feel comfortable leaving your items unattended please secure them back at your campsite when you are not present to oversee possible transactions. All transactions are between seller and buyer. CCC and SMM take no responsibility for items sold during the Used Gear Swap and Sale during Week of Rivers. Buyer Beware.

All participants in any Carolina Canoe Club (CCC) trip do so as common adventurers. The CCC or its individual members may coordinate paddling trips but no one is considered leader of a trip. As common adventurers, all participants take the responsibility for making their own decisions including, but not limited to, whether it is safe for them to participate on any particular water body, what equipment they need and use, the routes they may choose to paddle, whether their skill levels and abilities are adequate for the activity or whether climate and water conditions are appropriate for their participation. Participants are exclusively responsible for their own safety.

Individual coordinators for all CCC activities set requirements per their sole discretion. The CCC does not necessarily endorse or approve requirements set by coordinators.
