Raleigh seeks comments from paddlers on Neuse River plan

The city of Raleigh wants to know what you think about its Neuse River Blueway Plan.

Look over the plan and leave comments from Monday, Dec. 7, through Monday, Dec. 28.

This 25-mile stretch of river begins at the Falls Dam area and ends at the informal Mial Plantation access, according to a draft version of the plan.

Raleigh currently provides seven accesses along the Neuse. This would be increased to 10 under the plan. And six of these would get improved parking, restrooms and ADA accessibility.

The plan includes such highlights as the proposed Falls Park on the Neuse River and the surfing wave at Milburnie Park.

Upcoming project dates are:

  • Dec 7 – 28: online public input
  • Jan 21: Parks, Recreation and Greenway Advisory Board Presentation
  • Feb 18: Parks, Recreation and Greenway Advisory Board Action
  • March: City Council Presentation
