Looking for Rescue Gear

Fellow Members,

I am currently looking at options to add more modern gear to our CCC Safety and Rescue gear inventory.   We currently have some usable but outdated PFDs, helmets, and throw ropes.  Last year I added a couple modern throw ropes and a dry erase board for instructors to use to the inventory and hope to do the same this year with a few modern rescue PFDs and/or helmets.

I would like to reach out to all my fellow members who might feel generous enough to donate some serviceable gear to the safety equipment inventory.    I am looking mostly for rescue PFDs in any style or size and a few modern style helmets.  I have attached a few pictures of the current rescue PFDs, helmets, and throw ropes.  I believe newer gear would benefit our members.

If you do have extra gear and are willing to part with it please let me know.  Even if you are not able to donate it for free and would need some money let me know. I will see what I can work out as long as it is a good price for the club.  Below is the gear I am now searching for;

Rescue PFDs:  Newer common style and brands such as Astral, Stohlquist, NRS, Kokatat

Helmets:  Once again newer models such as NRS, WRSI, Sweet Protection, Shred Ready

Throw Ropes:  Any newer model in serviceable condition.  This can be cheap ropes as well as they provide great training tools

Locking carabiners:  Any style or shape as even damaged or bad ones can be used as an example

Prusik minding pulleys:   Any size or style

Prusiks: any type of prusik cord, hollow block, auto block, etc.

Strainer Bar:  15″ diameter or larger, at least 10 ft long.  (we currently have 2 smaller ones but would like to see a more effective bar for training)

Plastic Canoe:  Any plastic canoe to use for pin practice.  It can have holes or a crack or be old and seats are not important, just needs to be plastic so it can bend and flex a little more for pins.

Just for everyone’s knowledge we do have a pretty large Sarety and Rescue equipment inventory and the list is stored on the website archives for all the Officers and Staff.   It includes the gear in the pictures below in addition to a Large Karma pin kayak, Rescue Randy, many other ropes and webbing, rock climbing gear for anchor points, 2 strainer bars, carabiners, pulley, and some NRS Billy Bags, and some other misc gear, books, and paperwork.   I will update the inventory with any new equipment donated and upload it to the website.

I have received support from a few of the board members to give a copy of the “Paddling Eastern North Carolina” Guidebook to anyone who donates gear.  If anyone who donates gear would like a guidebook, I will ensure you get one, whether it be donated by the club or your CCC Safety Chair.

Thank you

William Holman
