“Searching for Methuseleh”  by Paul Ferguson

Paul’s reflection on searching for ancient cypress, trees both fragile and enduring, and the meaning they reveal.

“Altamaha-Altimeter” a Different Waters article by Burt Kornegay

In the first of a Different Waters series on multi-day river paddles in distant places, Burt recalls a recent trip to LA (Lower Alabama).

Also in the March Different Waters, see Burt’s more difficult trip on the windswept Rio Grande.

“Friends of the Lower Haw and the CCC” by Gretchen Smith

Our friends at FLOHA combine networking, advocacy, and education to keep one of our favorite rivers a place we can all enjoy.

“Bob Brueckner-The Importance of Community and Giving Back” By Greg Hlavaty

Bob has spent much of his life developing the paddling community while conserving the rivers we paddle.

In March, Carolina Paddler continues the new series Different Waters.  We’ll look into the crystal depths of the CCC Logo. Zach Schiada will explore the upper reaches of the Rocky River.  We’ll discuss shoulder injuries with “What’s Hurting Our Johnsons?”  We will also have an in-depth look at Erik Bate, one of the CCC teen age wonders.  What makes him a wonder is not his Class V skills, his diverse athletic achievements, his Jackson Team member status or his tight knit community of like-minded young people.  What makes him a wonder is his down to earth “good kid’ quality.  Read these stories and more, only in Carolina Paddler.
