This year’s budget reflects rising operational costs and the increased cost of instructor certification. We have designated funds for an audit of our financial records, required by club bylaws, as well as an upgrade to our accounting software to ease the audit process. Additionally, the Board is committed to providing benefits to those instructors who teach for the CCC, and this budget increases the allowances for reimbursement of instructor certification.

Despite record membership, it is proving to be more and more difficult to account for these rising costs without raising membership dues. Looking back on previous budgets, we have had projected budget deficits of close to $3,000, though expenses have usually been overestimated. Although the budget deficit appears much larger this year, we have directly allocated over $4,800 from last year’s guidebook sales to account for our increase in spending. The CCC membership voted last year to spend the income from book sales on education, safety, and conservation. This will allow us to implement our plans for these three programs without raising dues.

If we do find ourselves over budget by the end of the year, we do have room to reduce our donations to other organizations to maintain our account balance year to year.
