WOR 2026 Guide

Date: June 27 through July 5 2026

Location: Smoky Mountain Meadows Campground

Note: Hurricane Helene severely impacted Western North Carolina in the fall of 2024. Some of our favorite WOR destinations were greatly affected. In a nutshell, that includes everything east of Sylva/Dillsboro.  (French Broad, Green, Nolichucky, Pigeon, Toe and Wilson Creek and their tributaries.) As of May 25, 2025, French Broad and Pigeon have reopened to commercial and private paddler traffic. Nolichucky is a major construction and industrial zone and, though not officially closed to private paddlers,  is not recommended. Green River is partially closed.  French Broad and Pigeon will be discussed in more depth at the First Timers Sessions on Friday and Saturday evening and at the Saturday morning meeting. Toe River is open but with changes. Wilson Creek is closed.
