Week of Rivers 2022 will run from Saturday morning July 2 through Sunday July 10. This year we prepared a brief video about WOR.

Smoky Mountain Meadows Campground  https://smokymtnmeadows.com/ is the HQ for this event. You do not have to stay at SMM to participate. You must purchase a day pass for your vehicle at the SMM Office to attend the morning meetings and evening activities and use their facilities.

Plan your trip. https://www.greatsmokies.com/  This guide is a terrific resource about the area if this is your first visit. The “Where to Stay” tab offers everything from camping, glamping, cabins, hotels and B&Bs. Book early to get your spot. Bryson City is a prime tourist destination in the summer time.

Research the rivers in the area. https://www.carolinacanoeclub.org/content/wor-knowing-your-target-rivers/   This may be your 1st or 50th year of paddling. Simple factors like driving distance and river distance, especially with gas prices the way they are, will shape your choices. River difficulty, crowds and your skill level are even more important. Please don’t show up and expect someone to take you down every river on your list, especially if you’re looking at the more difficult runs. We’ve received complaints in the past about not having trips or enough trips on certain rivers. This event is run completely by volunteers. We try really hard to get folks on the water every day, but there are no guarantees on numbers of trips or the weather.

Please refer to the WOR Tips Tab for more details. At the bottom of the Tips Tab there is a link to the CCC WOR Book of Knowledge. Download and read it if you are new to CCC , WOR  and paddling. Print a copy for yourself. It has a lot of handy information.  A tremendous amount of effort has gone into providing you with the tools you need to have a fun and safe WOR.
