BEGIN:VCALENDAR VERSION:2.0 PRODID:-//wp-events-plugin.com//6.4.7.1//EN TZID:America/New_York X-WR-TIMEZONE:America/New_York BEGIN:VEVENT UID:3549@carolinacanoeclub.org DTSTART;TZID=America/New_York;VALUE=DATE:20260717 DTEND;TZID=America/New_York;VALUE=DATE:20260721 DTSTAMP:20260131T201315Z URL:https://www.carolinacanoeclub.org/events/ohiopyle-confluence-trips-inc luding-the-lower-youghiogheny/ SUMMARY:Ohiopyle/Confluence trips including the Lower Youghiogheny DESCRIPTION:This will be a 4 day paddling event on various rivers in the Oh iopyle\, PA and/or Confluence\, PA area.  The plan is to have a Lower You ghiogheny or similar (High Intermediate) skill level trip each day.  If t here is sufficient interest there will also be a Middle Youghiogheny or si milar skill (Novice) trips.  For those who are unfamiliar with the area\, the following is a brief description of the main rivers:\n\n \;\n\n Lower Youghiogheny (LY) - a Class 3/4 section runable almost year round.   Dimple and Rivers End rapids are not nice to swim so you will want a re liable roll.  Dam release\, but warmer than the Nanny.  If you are comfo rtable on the Ocoee\, Tellico\, or Nolichucky then you should be OK on the LY.  The Pigeon Gorge and French Broad 9 are a bit easier than the LY.\n Middle Youghiogheny - Also runnable most of the year\, but much easier.   Class 2 rapids at the beginning and end with well….flat water in the middle.  Similar in difficulty to the Tuckasegee  Gorge and easier than the Nantahala.  \n If there is enough natural flow (or too much on the Yough) then the Casselman\, Laurel Hill\, Stony\, Cheat Narrows\, etc bec ome possibilities [see rivers.run/#nancy].  \n\n \;\n\nSkill Level - The trip is listed as Intermediate+ because of the Lower Youghiogheny.  If you plan on only paddling the Middle Youghiogheny then class 2 skills w ill be sufficient.\n\n \;\n\nLodging:\n\n \;\n\nAirBnB - There are a lot of AirBnB options in Confluence.  \n\nBed &\; Breakfast - Ther e are several nice full B&\;Bs in Confluence.\n\nCamping:\n\nThere are a lot of camping options in the area but the two main options are the Outf low Campground in Confluence and Ohiopyle State Park in Ohiopyle.  Links below:\n\n \;\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOutflow Camping\, Youghiogheny Rive r Lake\n\nrecreation.gov\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOHIOPYLE S TATE PARK\, PA\n\nLower Youghiogheny shuttle:\n\n \n\nOn weekends\, if we are running the LY\, you will need to purchase a Lower Yough launch/shutt le permit (currently $10 per boater per day weekends only).  You pick thi s up when you carry your boat to the put-in. Each person will need to sign in before launching.  \n\n \n\nTrip logistics: \n\n \n\nYou must RSV P to attend. You do not need to paddle all 4 days. Please include your exp erience.
