 nLocation: Tuckaseegee River and Fontana Lake (Nantahala Area)\n\nNovice c
 linics are targeted at those who have some experience on whitewater and a
 re proficient in flat water\, know basic strokes and can maneuver the boat
  in Class 1-2 moving water\, and is aimed at improving basic skills.  Usu
 ally\, the first half of the first day is spent either on a lake or flat/m
 oving water reinforcing basic fundamentals. This is a time that the instru
 ctor uses to assess the class and their skill level.  The second half of 
 the first day then transitions to a Class I-II river\, utilizing the skill
 s practiced on flatwater.  The second day is spent on a class I-II or II-
 III river to allow the students time to practice\, practice\, and then pra
 ctice some more until these fundamental skills become second nature.  Nov
 ice clinic students should have experience and be comfortable on rivers li
 ke the Lower Green\, Middle Haw\, and Tuck Gorge. Those with no experience
  or flatwater experience only should register for the beginner clinic.\n\n
 This clinic is for persons over 18 years of age\, or over 15 years with a 
 parent attending the clinic (Above 13 years may also be considered on a ca
 se-by-case basis).\n\nThe ACA has established the following Essential Elig
 ibility Criteria (EEC) for this level of course: ACA courses are open to a
 ll individuals who acknowledge the ability to perform the following essent
 ial eligibility criteria.\n\n 	Breathe independently (i.e.\, not require m
 edical devices to sustain breathing)\n 	Independently maintain sealed airw
 ay passages while under water\n 	Independently hold head upright without n
 eck / head support\n 	Manage personal care independently or with assistanc
 e of a companion\n 	Manage personal mobility independently or with a reaso
 nable amount of assistance\n 	Follow instructions and effectively communic
 ate independently or with assistance of a companion\n 	Independently turn 
 from face-down to face-up and remain floating face up while wearing a prop
 erly fitted life jacket\n 	Get on / off or in / out of a paddlecraft indep
 endently or with a reasonable amount of assistance\n 	Independently get ou
 t and from under a capsized paddlecraft\n 	Remount or reenter the paddlecr
 aft following deep water capsize independently or with a reasonable amount
  of assistance\n 	Maintain a safe body position while attempting skills\, 
 activities and rescues listed in the appropriate Course Outline\, and have
  the ability to recognize and identify to others when such efforts would b
 e unsafe given your personal situation\n\nInstructors: To Be Determined\n\
 nParticipants should be able to provide the required gear for use during t
 he clinic.  Instructors are not expected to provide gear.  You may also
