DESCRIPTION:L3 River Safety and Rescue to L4 Swiftwater Rescue Upgrade Cour
 se\n\nOne day course for anyone who attended any of William Holman’s L3 
 classes since 2025.\n\nLocation: Primary – Cape Fear at Erwin\, Alternat
 e – Haw River at Lunchstop Rapid\n\nDate: August 23rd\, 0900-1800\n\nIns

 egistration will open on July 22nd\n\nOpen to CCC Members only. ACA Member
 ship or $10 ACA Event Fee Required. (CCC Membership is different than ACA

 is designed as a short program emphasizing safety\, enjoyment\, and skill 
 development. The skills and knowledge gained can set the stage for a lifet
 ime of exploration\, adventures\, a healthy lifestyle\, appreciation of wa
 ter and the natural world\, lasting memories with family and friends\, and
  a rewarding experience for all.\n\nThis L4 course is designed to teach re
 cognition and avoidance of common river hazards\, execution of self-rescue
  techniques\, and simple rescues for paddlers in distress. Emphasis is pla
 ced both on personal safety and simple\, commonly used skills. Fundamental
  and more advanced techniques for dealing with hazards that carry greater 
 risks for both victim and rescuer\, such as strainers\, rescue vest applic
 ations\, entrapments\, and pins also are practiced. Scenarios will provide
  an opportunity for participants to practice their skills both individuall
 y and within a team/group context.\n\nNote: This is being held in conjunct
 ion with the full L4 Swiftwater Rescue class. Day one covers the L3 River 
 Safety Rescue skills. Day two covers the L4 Swiftwater Rescue skills.\n\nT
 his course is conducted utilizing with ACA Paddlesports certified instruct
 ors and ACA Paddlesports curriculum
