DESCRIPTION:L3 River Safety and Rescue to L4 Swiftwater Rescue Upgrade Cour
 se\n\nOne day course for anyone who attended any of William Holman’s L3 
 classes since 2025.\n\nLocation: Primary – Cape Fear at Erwin\, Alternat
 e – Haw River at Lunchstop Rapid\n\nDate: August 23rd\, 0900-1800\n\nIns

 egistration will open on June 1st\n\nOpen to CCC Members only. ACA Members
 hip or $10 ACA Event Fee Required. (CCC Membership is different than ACA M
 embership and they are not equivalent for the insurance).\n\nVisit Safety

 s designed as a short program emphasizing safety\, enjoyment\, and skill d
 evelopment. The skills and knowledge gained can set the stage for a lifeti
 me of exploration\, adventures\, a healthy lifestyle\, appreciation of wat
 er and the natural world\, lasting memories with family and friends\, and 
 a rewarding experience for all.\n\nThis L4 course is designed to teach rec
 ognition and avoidance of common river hazards\, execution of self-rescue 
 techniques\, and simple rescues for paddlers in distress. Emphasis is plac
 ed both on personal safety and simple\, commonly used skills. Fundamental 
 and more advanced techniques for dealing with hazards that carry greater r
 isks for both victim and rescuer\, such as strainers\, rescue vest applica
 tions\, entrapments\, and pins also are practiced. Scenarios will provide 
 an opportunity for participants to practice their skills both individually
  and within a team/group context.\n\nNote: This is being held in conjuncti
 on with the full L4 Swiftwater Rescue class. Day one covers the L3 River S
 afety Rescue skills. Day two covers the L4 Swiftwater Rescue skills.\n\nTh
 is course is conducted utilizing with ACA Paddlesports certified instructo
 rs and ACA Paddlesports curriculum
