Event Type

Kayaking 101 is a statewide entry level kayak education and safety event created by a partnership between the North Carolina State Parks and North Carolina division of the ACA alongside the US Coast Guard Auxiliary, North Carolina Wildlife Recourses Commission, and many other organizations to include the CCC.  The goal is to train as many residents of North Carolina as possible at an extremely low cost to the students.  All instructors and staff for the event are volunteers to include many CCC members.

There are currently 14 locations projected for this year from Jockey’s Ridge State Park, Hammock’s Beach State Park(Angler Class), Carolina Beach State Park, Jones Lake State Park, Merchant’s Millpond State Park, Falls Lake State Recreational Area, Falls Lake State Recreational Area (Paddleboard Class), Jordan Lake NCWRC Farrington Point (CCC team), Lake Johnson City Park(Raleigh), Oak Hollow Lake City Park(High Point),  Morrow Mountain State Park, Hanging Rock State Park, Lake Norman State Park, and Lake James State Park.

If you know of anyone interested in learning basic kayaking and safety skills tell them to watch for more on this great oppurtunity.

Registration for this event will open on or about April 18th.  Watch the ACA NC Facebook Page for updates.

If you any questions prior to that date please contact William at ncstatedirector@americancanoe.net

All participants in any Carolina Canoe Club (CCC) trip do so as common adventurers. The CCC or its individual members may coordinate paddling trips but no one is considered leader of a trip. As common adventurers, all participants take the responsibility for making their own decisions including, but not limited to, whether it is safe for them to participate on any particular water body, what equipment they need and use, the routes they may choose to paddle, whether their skill levels and abilities are adequate for the activity or whether climate and water conditions are appropriate for their participation. Participants are exclusively responsible for their own safety.

Individual coordinators for all CCC activities set requirements per their sole discretion. The CCC does not necessarily endorse or approve requirements set by coordinators.
