DESCRIPTION:Introduction to Creeking (Intermediate Kayak) Single-Day Clinic
  - Nov. 14\, 2021\n\nLocation: Cheoah River\, ELF release (Extra Low Flow)
 .\n\nThe clinic will focus on techniques for creeking\, such as reading wa
 ter\, group safety and creek etiquette\, evaluating alternatives\, river s
 couting\, running rivers for the first time\, and fun :-).  You must have
  good boat control to allow you to catch small eddies and maneuver in tigh
 t spots.  You should also need a reliable river roll and be comfortable w
 ith self rescue in low flow broach scenarios.  Students should have solid
  experience and be comfortable on rivers like the Lower Haw in the 2\,000 
 - 3\,000 cfs range\, Nanty Falls\, Pigeon Gorge\, or rivers of similar dif
 ficulty. Boat control is the key.\n\nInstructor: Mark Thompson is an ACA L
 5 Kayak Instructor with many years of teaching experience. He is part of a
  continuation of a legacy of paddling instruction excellence by CCC\, nota
 bly by way of paddling legend Joe Greiner.\n\nDate: Sunday\, November 14\,

 ia (EEC): ACA courses are open to all individuals who acknowledge the abil
 ity to perform the following essential eligibility criteria.\n\n 	Breathe 
 independently (i.e.\, not require medical devices to sustain breathing)\n 
 	Independently maintain sealed airway passages while under water\n 	Indepe
 ndently hold head upright without neck / head support\n 	Manage personal c
 are independently or with assistance of a companion\n 	Manage personal mob
 ility independently or with a reasonable amount of assistance\n 	Follow in
 structions and effectively communicate independently or with assistance of
  a companion\n 	Independently turn from face-down to face-up and remain fl
 oating face up while wearing a properly fitted life jacket*\n 	Get on / of
 f or in / out of a paddlecraft independently or with a reasonable amount o
 f assistance*\n 	Independently get out and from under a capsized paddlecra
 ft*\n 	Remount or reenter the paddlecraft following deep water capsize ind
 ependently or with a reasonable amount of assistance*\n 	Maintain a safe b
 ody position while attempting skills\, activities and rescues listed in th
 e appropriate Course Outline\, and have the ability to recognize and ident
 ify to others when such efforts would be unsafe given your personal situat
 ion*\n\n* To participate in adaptive programs\, participants must acknowle
 dge only the first six EEC listed above. Entry-level adaptive programs wil

 C is required to register.  The clinic registration fee is $45.  Partici
 pants are required also to either be a current member of ACA or provide ev
