SUMMARY:Cold Water Class Weekend
DESCRIPTION:Paddling in cold weather comes with high risk.  Do you know al
 l the risks and how to mitigate them so you can enjoy paddling all year lo
 ng?\nWhen was the last time you swam in your winter gear?  Do you need to
  wear a wetsuit or dry suit?  At what temperature do you need to start we
 aring a dry suit?  What else should you consider when planning that winte
 r trip?  Join us and find the answer to all these questions and more.\n\n
 This will be free class\, open to the public\, oriented towards newer padd
 lers and non-club associated paddlers who do not have a great support netw
 ork such as we do but all members are welcome\, especially if they have ne
 ver attended a Cold-Water Clinic\, as well as general public.\n\n&nbsp\;\n
 \nDay 1 (Saturday\, 10-25-25) will be the main classroom portion and cold
  weather activities on the water (lake-flatwater)\n\nLocation: TBD. Caroli
 na Kayak Club will be hosting Day 1\, most likely venue is Falls Lake\n\nI
 nstructor:  William Holman\n\nTimeline\;\n\n10:00 am – Classroom portio
 n will discuss the risks of paddling on cold waters\, how to mitigate thos
 e risks as a paddler and for your group and gear/clothing to consider for 
 paddling regardless of what type of paddling you do.  We will also have n
 umerous types of gear on hand to show everyone and possibly some to demo.\
 n\n1:00 pm – The Flatwater on water activities will include wading\, swi
 mming\, and deep water re-entry.  All on water activities will be challen
 ge by choice and not required to attend the class.  Anyone wishing to par
 ticipate in this portion must sign a waiver and will be required to have P
 FD and cold water protection.  All are welcome to just observe.\n\n&nbsp\
 ;\n\nDay 2 (Sunday\, 10-26-25) will be a short classroom portion followed
  by the on water activities (Cold Water focused L3 RSR)\n\nLocation: Cape
  Fear River Trail\, Erwin NC/ Campbell’s Falls\, Cape Fear River\n\nInst

 3 RSR Cold Water specific starts) to 4:00 P.M.\n\nThe Cold Water specifics
  will be a classroom portion\, short Safety brief\, and then a few moving 
 water specific concerns when paddling in colder temperatures.\n\nPFD\, Hel
 met\, and cold water protection required to participate.  If you do not h
 ave some or all of the required gear then email the instructor as some gea
 r is available to use.  All are welcome to watch and not participate.\n\n
 The Modified L3 River Safety and Rescue(Cold Water Specific) will be focus
 ed mainly on Wading\, Swimming\, and throwing ropes to illustrate the effe
 cts of the cold water on your skills.  This portion is challenge by choic
 e and not required to attend the class on\n\nAll courses will be free but 
 registration or email from non members is highly encouraged to have a good
  idea of number of attendees.\n\nIf you are a non CCC member and wish to a
