This is primarily a kayak skills/confidence builder trip ( not a clinic)– especially for newbies, maybies, or people with a bad early experience or minimal time on the river. The idea is to share 5 easy basic tips (proven out over many years) that can be used right now on a lake or the Tuck or the Upper Gauley– wherever you go. The goal is to have a laid back, easy going ENCOURAGING trip so people can get their game on or back up to speed or practice or chill and have fun the rest of the week.
Needs:—– safety boater(s); more instructors/mentors/shepherds if the group is big.(Please check in after the meeting if your creek isn’t running).Open boats ( and open boat mentors/teachers) welcome but I’m not an open boater. All of these tips are transferable, though! Also need a trip navigator who can get us to the correct parking lots and direct logistics for the group…..
 Here are hints for my personal top five tips;
1. Gyration ( yes, you’ll have to do it with me and either be proud or embarrassed) 🙂
2.Free drug for calming all nerves ( non prescription);It always works. I’ll have free samples. It is guaranteed.But you have to take it with me—like I show you.It is child friendly.
3. Star Trek Voyager with a twist ( it’s easy, you already do it and it works!!)
4.Lean Machine ( a game changer)
5. The Stroke…THUH stroke….out of all 89, this ONE stroke helps avert trouble!!
See you at the morning meeting Saturday July 1
Disclaimer–I am no longer a certified instructor ( used to be) . This is not a clinic—just a simple trip

All participants in any Carolina Canoe Club (CCC) trip do so as common adventurers. The CCC or its individual members may coordinate paddling trips but no one is considered leader of a trip. As common adventurers, all participants take the responsibility for making their own decisions including, but not limited to, whether it is safe for them to participate on any particular water body, what equipment they need and use, the routes they may choose to paddle, whether their skill levels and abilities are adequate for the activity or whether climate and water conditions are appropriate for their participation. Participants are exclusively responsible for their own safety.

Individual coordinators for all CCC activities set requirements per their sole discretion. The CCC does not necessarily endorse or approve requirements set by coordinators.
