A few of us are heading up to the Nantahala for the late September Upper Nanty/Cascades release. We are intending to claim campsites on Old River Road, which is beautiful and completely trashed. This is ironic considering that the dump is at the end of the road. After running the river on Saturday and Sunday, we will be performing a streamside/campsite cleanup and will greatly appreciate anyone’s help. Please contact me on Facebook in the next few weeks if you are interested in helping out so that we can be prepared with extra rubber gloves. We will be arriving early Friday, and can stake claims on as many campsites as we have confirmed groups. This is a beautiful stretch of river that is FREE to camp on and it is a great shame that a few people have used it as their personal dump. Again, the county dump is at the end of the road….. This will be an extensive but relatively simple cleanup.

All participants in any Carolina Canoe Club (CCC) trip do so as common adventurers. The CCC or its individual members may coordinate paddling trips but no one is considered leader of a trip. As common adventurers, all participants take the responsibility for making their own decisions including, but not limited to, whether it is safe for them to participate on any particular water body, what equipment they need and use, the routes they may choose to paddle, whether their skill levels and abilities are adequate for the activity or whether climate and water conditions are appropriate for their participation. Participants are exclusively responsible for their own safety.

Individual coordinators for all CCC activities set requirements per their sole discretion. The CCC does not necessarily endorse or approve requirements set by coordinators.
