Event Type

I will coordinate a cleanup at the Haw River Clean-Up-A-Thon on March 16 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. This event is sponsored by the Haw River Assembly.

We try to field as may teams as possible on the Upper, Middle and Lower sections of the river. (This is between Chicken Bridge and the Robeson Creek Canoe Access on Jordan Lake.) We pick up trash on whitewater, on flatwater and the islands.

Bring an open canoe if you have one. If not, bring your kayak.

If you are interested, please contact me for more details at rjbrueckner@mindspring.com.

As your reward, Joan Monnig has graciously offered to feed everyone corned beef, cabbage and plenty of Blaney from 4:00ish to 9:00ish that night.  Last year’s feast was delicious, and makes the cleanup worthwhile. I get hungry just writing about it.

BYO Guineess or your favorite beverage . Clean-up participants are welcome to come early and take a shower if they prefer to not go home first.

All participants in any Carolina Canoe Club (CCC) trip do so as common adventurers. The CCC or its individual members may coordinate paddling trips but no one is considered leader of a trip. As common adventurers, all participants take the responsibility for making their own decisions including, but not limited to, whether it is safe for them to participate on any particular water body, what equipment they need and use, the routes they may choose to paddle, whether their skill levels and abilities are adequate for the activity or whether climate and water conditions are appropriate for their participation. Participants are exclusively responsible for their own safety.

Individual coordinators for all CCC activities set requirements per their sole discretion. The CCC does not necessarily endorse or approve requirements set by coordinators.
