The 2014 Easter Paddle will visit the rivers of the lovely area where Tennessee/Virginia/North Carolina meet.   Easter comes late this year but paddlers should remember, the water will be cold even though the air temp could be a warm (or cold!)  Be prepared!  Cold water paddling requires stamina, skill and cold water paddling gear.  Some paddlers will be arriving on Thursday evening to begin paddling on Friday.   There will be trips on Saturday and Sunday as well.  Trips could include:

North Fork of the Holston (Novice+)

Clinch River, (Novice+)

New River near Independence VA, (Novice+)

Lower Watauga below Wilson Dam (Novice +)

South Fork Holston, below the dam (Novice+/Intermediate)

Trip meetings will take place at 8:30 each morning at Warriors Path State Park,  where many CCC paddlers will be camping.   This lovely Tennessee park has campsites with tables and grills and some are equipped with water and electric hookups.  Modern bathhouses provide hot showers and lavatories. Campsites can be reserved ahead of time by calling 423-239-8531, 9-5:30 Monday-Friday or online here

For those of you in the Triangle area, you can expect a pleasant easy highway drive to take about  4 – 4.5 hours.

As common adventurers, all participants take the responsibility for making their own decisions including, but not limited to, whether it is safe for them to participate on any particular water body, what equipment they need and use, the routes they may choose to paddle, whether their skill levels and abilities are adequate for the activity or whether climate and water conditions are appropriate for their participation. Participants are exclusively responsible for their own safety.
