An Evening with Ann Rose

An Evening with Ann Rose and the Producers of River Warrior
We are proud to announce the Carolina Canoe Club will be hosting Ann Rose on Thursday night, July 3rd, at 7:30 pm for a discussion of her quest to bring awareness to water conservation. Joining Ann will be Cassia Sherrill, Haley Mellon and Caroline Renfro, the production team of the documentary about Ann, River Warrior.

Ann Rose lives “off the grid” on her land, Rose Mountain Farm, near Lansing, NC. After years of working her farm and local markets Ann was exhausted and needed a vacation. She was also concerned how local water sources were drying up as the world struggles with a warmer climate. Her idea of a vacation became a three-month trek from the creek on her farm in Lansing to the Gulf of Mexico, paddling and camping all the way. Along the way she shared, in person and through social media, the message of conserving our water, respecting the Earth and living more simply.
Following Ann for parts of the journey were local filmmaker, Haley Mellon, and the documentary team of a film to be called River Warrior. While possessing a warm, engaging personality, Ann can be a warrior for her causes. She’s been described as “free-spirited, a go-getter, a wild woman – feral farmer kind of gal.”
CCC couldn’t miss the opportunity to throw a feral farmer-river warrior into the local gathering of feral kids and adults, known as the Pirates of the Tuckaseegee. Ann and team will be there. Distinguished CCC member, Dennis Huntley, will be paddling with Ann and they both will be armed and ready for water-battle. Cassia and Haley will be joining in the fun, shooting a little video, trying to keep their cameras dry and employing their own squirt-guns.
At the evening event, we’ll see excerpts from River Warrior and Ann will give a brief talk. Then we’ll have a question-and-answer discussion hosted by Dana Hoffman. Ann and the filmmakers are looking forward to meeting our members and discussing shared interests in preserving the water quality of our lakes and rivers.
Join us for the day with Pirates of the Tuck and the evening with Ann and Friends at the pavilion, 7:30pm, July 3.
