2011 Survey on membership dues

We have now discussed the need to increase Club dues at the past three CCC meetings (May, July, October). Those discussions have led the Board to ask the membership for feedback regarding the dues structure.

Both options will have memberships with online access to the newsletter for $20, an increase of $5 from the current price. Considerable debate has arisen about the pricing of memberships that include mailed delivery of a printed copy of the newsletter, which are currently $20. We are considering two options for these memberships: $25 or $30.

From November 3 through November 20 we will extend the discussion of these choices using a dedicated forum on the Members Only section of the CCC website available at https://www.carolinacanoeclub.org/forums/discussions/membership-fees ; we will also have a survey/non-binding vote to explore the membership’s preference in advance of that vote. Based on that discussion, beginning on November 21 a single option will be posted on the website by the Board for a final vote leading up to the December meeting.

To summarize:

We will hold a two-week discussion and survey/non-binding vote on which the final proposal will be based. Once the proposal is finalized, the entire membership will have the chance to vote electronically, and these electronic votes will be counted along with the show-of-hands vote at the December meeting.

The procedure outlined above allows us to extend the discussion of the dues increase, vote, and have results in place for next year’s officers in a way that remains consistent with all aspects of the Club bylaws.
