Carolina Canoe Club Introduction to the CCC Online Trip List

The CCC Online Trip List is for use by CCC members to view the list of trips and to post new trips. You can also use the list to volunteer to have your trip included in the calendar of CCC sanctioned trips and events.

Access to the OTL is via a link in the "Members Only" section of the CCC website. Click on the link and you will see the a list of all currently posted trips, sorted by trip date. Click on the date for a trip to view the thread of messages about that trip. The “OTC” column indicates which trips are designated as “On The Calendar”, meaning the general and detailed CCC Calendars.

CCC members can post a new trip, add to the thread about a trip, and/or subscribe to the OTL. Subscribers receive an email when a new trip is posted. The original poster of a trip and each of the OTL administrators have the authority to delete a trip. There also is a built-in function that automatically deletes expired trips from the OTL and CCC Calendars whenever a new trip is posted.

The form for posting a trip includes an option to specify that the trip should be added to the CCC Calendar as a CCC sanctioned trip. This option must be selected to post a trip that will occur more than 30 days from the current date. It is optional for other trips.

When a trip is added to the OTL and the option is checked, the trip is also added to the general CCC Calendar (accessible via the “drop down list” under “Calendar” on the CCC home page) and the detailed CCC Calendar (accessible via “Members Only” on the CCC home page). The OTL and the two calendars differ in that:

• The OTL includes all trips, not just those that are designated as CCC sanctioned trips/events.
• The general and detailed CCC Calendars only include CCC sanctioned trips/events.
• The general CCC Calendar does not include the name and email address of the trip poster.
• The detailed CCC Calendar includes the name and email address of the trip poster. The calendar that is available in The Paddler is a snapshot of the detailed CCC Calendar. It only includes those trips that were posted before the cutoff for that issue of The Paddler.

When the CCC Cruise Chair asks for volunteers to sign up to coordinate a trip to be published in an upcoming issue of The Paddler, you can:

• use the posting feature of the OTL to volunteer
  or
• Send the Cruise Chair an email with the trip information.
