Upper Gauley First Timer’s trip
NOTICE: Due to personal commitments, the Upper Gauley First Timer’s trip this year will be Sept 26 and 27. The other change is that Joe Berry will be the trip coordinator (participant screening, list keeper, question answerer, lead communicator) since I will not be reachable the three weeks prior to the trip. I will be joining the trip for the river portion (the fun part) to help out from there. Together Joe and I will give you a great Upper Gauley First Timer’s experience!!!
Just as in years past, there will be a cap on the number of people we accept on the trip, but will work off of a wait list after the cap has been reached if others who were on the list drop off. This trip tends to fill up fast and waiting until the last minute can result in your not being part of the trip. We will also be screening folks to make sure that we’re not getting in over our heads and to keep the trip safe. We hope that all understand why this is necessary. Preference will also be given to those who intend to join the trip for both days.

All participants in any Carolina Canoe Club (CCC) trip do so as common adventurers. The CCC or its individual members may coordinate paddling trips but no one is considered leader of a trip. As common adventurers, all participants take the responsibility for making their own decisions including, but not limited to, whether it is safe for them to participate on any particular water body, what equipment they need and use, the routes they may choose to paddle, whether their skill levels and abilities are adequate for the activity or whether climate and water conditions are appropriate for their participation. Participants are exclusively responsible for their own safety.
Individual coordinators for all CCC activities set requirements per their sole discretion. The CCC does not necessarily endorse or approve requirements set by coordinators.
