This web page of places to eat and accommodation is maintained as a service to CCC members and anyone else who visits our site. We rely on our paddling friends to provide information about any additions, changes, or deletions to this web page.

Send your input to the CCC Webmaster at webmaster@carolinacanoeclub.org. Include the following information: Name of the place, address, phone number, type of cuisine (for places to eat) and directions for finding the location.

Downtown Waynesville

Bogarts, American, steaks, burgers, pasta, etc. Can accommodate groups.
Sweet Onion, great food, probably best for small group of 4-6
Birchwood Hall, can handle groups
Maggie’s Galley Seafood, south side of Waynesville, good variety.
Ice Cream – Jack the Dipper second location (waffle cones made to order). Close to Ingles,

Newport, TN

Grill 73 – Russian/American cuisine

Waynesville/Maggie Valley Area off I40, Exit 24

Haywood 209 Café – a diner adjoining a Shell station. Large outdoor patio/pet friendly. Good food. Good place after paddling Pigeon and heading back to camp. Good pie.

Asheville

Avoid downtown unless you want good Indian (Chai Pani, Mela, Mehfil), or if you just like crowds and paid parking

West Asheville (street parking is much easier and mostly free, compared to downtown). Take I40 to 240 and W Asheville Exit. Except White Duck Taco, most of the following are on Haywood Rd.

White Duck Taco (large outdoor area on the river), paddlers love it, particularly if you like to wait in line for 30 minutes

On Haywood Rd:

Taco Billy, small outdoor area. Not great for large groups. Excellent tacos.
Gan Shan West – Ramen, fairly small indoors. Outdoor seating.
Ito Ramen Bar & Tapas, Larger than Gan Shan. Indoor/outdoor.
Early Girl (indoor/outdoor seating, pet friendly). Specializes in breakfast all day
Nine Mile, Jamaican (indoor only). Popular. Not for large group.
The Hop West, Ice Cream (slow, but good)
Pizza: Pizza Mind (sports bar setting-not large) and Standard Pizza (indoor and outdoor seating on patio)
W.A.L.K., pub food, pool table
Universal Joint, large menu, pub food, (indoor/outdoor seating)

Other W Asheville:

Sunny Point Café (gets very busy), Biscuit Head (closes at 3:00)

On Patton Ave— take I40 West Asheville exit 44

Tommy’s – Greek owned which means they have a big menu. Local joint.

Well Bred – amazing bakery, with a variety of prepared foods.

Not a lot of food choices unless you go to Johnson City or back toward Weaverville/Mars Hill/Asheville
